Last Blog - Mistakes

When I started this blog, I meant to write it for myself. I did the mistake of letting few people I know that I write a blog. since that moment, I can't keep writing as I want and what I want.

So, you learn from mistakes and that something I can appreciate in life.

Well, last blog here, didn't turn quite as I wanted.

See you around the web,

Zac

Day #18- Gadjets

I can't really say if I'm obsessed with gadgets and electronics or if it's just fun for me to use them, but I definitely love to collect them.

In a regular week day it's look like that: My iPhone wake me up with some song from my playlist, I put on my kinetic watch (works on movement, so cool!), while I wait for at the bus station I surf the net to check the latest news (who I kidding... I'm playing silly games on the iPhone), when I'm on the bus, I read books using my tablet, on the way home I listen to lectures on the iPhone and at home, I hear music using iPod and docking station while sitting at the computer.

There are some more gadgets and electronics to go around, like my digital camera (of course) with the 2 lenses, blue-ray player, laptop, but I guess you get the picture by now (digital picture!).

I think the main reason I like all this stuff is because I don't like sitting doing nothing. I need to keep myself busy at all times, so when I watch TV I can use the iPhone at the same time. Another reason is that gadgets help you do things faster and simpler. For example, I'm reading now a series of 11 books. I have all the series on my tablet, so I can read it on my way to work. If I wanted to take the books with me, it would be so heavy!

So, buy more stuff you don't really need to support the monstrous corporations!

Day #17 - Just Act

Usually I don't like to intervene with other people business if it's got nothing to do with me.

Today, while I was at work, there was loud whistles of the wind outside. Through the sound of the wind I heard some shrieks of something weird, that wasn't the wind. When I looked out the window from my office at the 13th floor, I saw across the street puppy tied to a post and his owner nowhere around.

My first thought was to curse that person and stay at the office, doing nothing like I usually do. Then I remembered a conversation that I had with my wife (Lets call her Gisele). In the conversation she told me that sometimes she regret of not acting on the spot when something troubles her and then she's sorry about it later. I knew what she meant when I saw the puppy outside.

I took my coat and rushed out to do something about it (knowing Charlie could find himself with little brother today). When I got out the owner just got out from a bank and took the puppy. I couldn't just let it go so I reprimanded her (with shouts) and told her she was a bad mother! (She didn't like it at all...)

I hope she won't do that again.

My point is that it is important to act when you see something wrong so you would know that you did your best to right the wrongs.

Day #16 - Ride home

In the last 2 days I found myself in some uncomfortable situations, where I stuck with no public transportation on my way back home or in the worse weather to wait for public transportation.

In both times my office partner came to the rescue and gave me ride home!

Yesterday I had a course in a distant location from my regular place of work and I had to find my way back using public transportation (lucky for me, my second half (aka my wife) work near that location and she gave me a ride on the way to the course). After the course ended yesterday, my office partner gave my a ride directly home, and I also took the chance to show her our beautiful home!

Today we had the craziest (is that a word?) weather our country saw in 20 years and there were huge traffic jams all over the place (why couldn't it be just jams - preferred strawberry jam...) and floods of the main roads. it took me about 3 hours getting to work while it usually takes me about an hour.

On the way back home, my office partner gave me ride again and saves me from waiting in the cold rain for a bus.

So, Thumbs up for her!

Stay dry - Stay home.

Day #15 - Courses from work

My work sends me to professional courses from time to time. This time the course is about some statistical program I'm not really sure I'm going to use.

There are number of good things about going to courses like this one: The course is held over 4 work days, so it's like mini-mini vacation from work, this course is another line in the CV,  I'm not paying on the course, that's always nice, usually you get to go home early from courses and I get educated-ish.

Today's course also included food at a restaurant and tasty pastries (and as you know - I love dough-food).

So, today a bit short and pointless, but still, good reasons to appreciate courses.

Day #14 - Pee

Charlie
My dog is crazy and he is scared of everything. This is a bad combination when you think about skinny mixed breed hound that reaches 1.5 meter when he stretch and although he is very cute and smart, he has the capacity to drive us crazy.

Over the last weekend we had thunder and lightning storms. When Charlie hears a thunder he gets very scared and he crawls under our bed (and it takes him so long to get out from under it because it's too small to fit him!) or comes to sit under our tables.

We live in an apartment building, so it means we have to take Charlie for a walk, at least three times a day, no matter how is the weather outside.

I guess you know where it leads us... Charlie afraid of going out in the winter, but we have to pull him out so he could do him doggy business.

The walk last night was about 5 minutes during which I told Charlie 10,000 times to pee so we could return home. Of course he was too afraid to pee, until he understood that the only chance to go back home is by peeing.

And hence the headline - Pee, not even your own, can make you very happy and you learn to appreciate the ability to go back home after your dog did his business and let you go back to the warm house when it's cold and loud outside!

Stay warm,

Day #13 - Fake Birthdays

Today my wife, her parents and I went to a restaurant for lunch. My father in law (a.k.a my wife's dad), "threw" to the air couple of times that we are celebrating birthday. No need to explain that there was no birthday today or this week in general to any of us sitting at the table (I actually explain just now...), but his grandson is the one with the birthday and he is in another continent.

Our waiter was nice and professional, so he got the hint and when we ordered desert (after great sea-creatures meal), the waiter put on it firecracker and sang to us "happy birthday..." without even knowing who he was singing for.

On that moment I realized 3 things: I know what I'm going to write about in today's blog, I like fake birthdays just as real ones and I'm going to that in other places!

Happy fake birthday all!

Day #12 - Baking

I don't know what is it about dough, the ability to play with (Stretch it all around and it returns to its last condition!), the smell of it in the oven or the great taste of the things we bake (it's not the weight gain for sure), but I just love it.

My wife and I love to bake together. I am the one in charge of the dough and she is the one in charge of the stuffing and the filling (sometimes we switch so no one will get bored, but usually it's like that). It's great to spend time together doing something we both like. For instance, today we baked Pizza with all the toppings we like, and ate it in front of the TV while there was crazy weather outside and last week, Chocolate cake we still trying to finish.

Another reason I like baking is the smell that fills the house. The smell makes our house to a home, and remind me of the things my mom used to bake when I lived at my parents house.

And of course, I just like eating baked stuff! Cakes, bread, pizza, cupcakes, you name it, I'll eat it!

Bon Appetit,

Zac

I didn't take photos of the pizza this time, so here is the Apple Tart we baked couple of months back:

Day #11 - Light head (get drunk)

Today I went out with my wife to a pub to celebrate her friend's birthday. While we were in this pub I ordered 1 beer (hope I write the drink and not the animal...) and after like 2 sips I started to see everything double.

Seeing double is great when I look at my wife because she is so pretty but it's a problem when you try to write a blog! So this blog took me kinda long time to write (wrote it while I was at pub in very uncivilized way) and I hit the glass with my teeth couple of times when I missed the lips...

I don't drink much alcohol usually, and the light head feeling coming to me very fast. So I can appreciate that feeling that drive the worries (and thoughts away).

Get drunk but don't drive!

P.s.
If you could see what I wrote before the auto correct of the iPhone fixed all the mistakes, you would laugh your asses off right now! Love my iPhone!

Day #10 - Winter air

The summer where I live is hot, very hot! You can feel the pavements burning under your shoes! That's why I usually take the dog for a walk late at the summer evenings.

In the winter you can feel the clear air and the freshness around you. Every day when I return from work I take the dog out (actually, pulling him out because he doesn't like go out for a walk!) and we go around the block for a walk, chasing cats and peeing on trees.

The winter air makes me feel awake after work. The green grass all over the neighborhood together with the cool air is a great thing to have around you.

I won't start talking about the rain!

Have a great winter,

Zac

Day #9 - Small gestures

In front of my office sits a colleague of mine that I visit on a daily basis. Most of the time we chat about life, T.V. and work related stuff.

Every now and then (or to be honest, twice a day) I go to her in order to "borrow" toothpick (but who wants used toothpick back anyway?!).

About a week ago this colleague brought me a present! My own toothpick pack! I was very happy to get that present. It's actually the 2nd time I got this present from a colleague at work.

In my previous job the same thing happened to me and a good friend of mine that worked with me brought me the same present (I think I got issues with chewing wood, poor elementary school pencils).

It's the smallest things that make me happy and put people on my "favorite people list".

Not so long ago my wife reminded me that it had been a long time since I gave her flowers. I told her that we saving money and flowers is not a must. She told me that I can bring 1 flower and that would be enough. I guess she was right!

Took my few months to process, but I get that for sure now.

Now, where can I find some flowers?!
